We are constantly striving to improve our sustainability practices. Each year, we seek and implement workflow adjustments to minimize reliance on paper products and further digitize administrative processes. Old program booklets are repurposed for sponsor solicitations, and merchandise is designed for longevity and reuse, minimizing waste. We are committed to evolving with the community's needs and innovations. By working together, we can ensure that TBMF remains a celebration of culture, creativity, and environmental responsibility.
TBMF sustainability statement
The Tumon Bay Music Festival ™ (TBMF) is committed to fostering sustainability in all aspects of our annual event. We recognize the importance of preserving our environment, honoring Chamorro culture, and creating a more sustainable system for future generations. Our sustainability efforts are centered around the following principles:
This statement is just one step in our ongoing commitment to sustainability for TBMF and the Marianas. We invite everyone to join us in this journey, and we encourage you to consider the environment in your daily lives.
- Environmental Sustainability. We recognize the importance of reducing our environmental footprint. By transitioning to digital publications and minimizing the printing of physical tickets and documents, we have significantly reduced paper usage and waste. We encourage participants to submit digital applications whenever possible, reducing reliance on paper forms.
- Social Responsibility. As part of our commitment to honoring Chamorro culture, we prioritize the use of local ifit wood for our awards. Ifit wood is not only indigenous to the Marianas but is also termite resistant and holds deep cultural significance. Our awards are now designed to be reused and updated yearly, ensuring sustainability while honoring our cultural heritage. Our system encourages participants to take ownership of their awards and participate in its lifecycle.
- Supply Chain Management. We prioritize sourcing locally and regionally before considering outsourcing, supporting local and regional businesses and artisans while reducing our carbon footprint. By engaging with local suppliers and artists, we contribute to the sustainability of our community while maintaining the quality and authenticity of our products and services.
- Stakeholder Engagement. We actively engage with stakeholders to promote sustainability and environmental awareness. Through digital festival guides and booklets, we reduce printing costs and minimize negative environmental impacts. Furthermore, we seek to collaborate with local partners, such as iRecycle, to implement recycling initiatives, such as placing recycle bins at our event venues.
- Expanding Sustainability Initiatives.
